To provide basic information to understand the role of inflammation in host defence and pathology. <br />

Prerequisites

<p>A basic background on general pathology is strongly recommended. However, the required information will be provided during the lectures. <br />

Course unit content

The course will provide a description of inflammatory processes with a particular emphasis on aspects of biotechnological interest. <br />
<br />
Lectures will concern: <br />

a) the dynamics of inflammation <br />
<br />
b) cellular and plasmatic mediators <br />
<br />
c) systemic effects and disorders of the inflammatory response <br />
<br />
<br />
