Learning objectives
Students will study the history of the Latin language in detail and acquire the skills required to produce a piece of independent research.
Prerequisites
Students must have obtained 10 learning credits in the scientific subject area of Latin Language and Literature. Students who have already gained 15 credits in the same scientific subject area must pass a preliminary written entry exam.
Course unit content
Course title: Painter poets. <br />

A commentary upon the following texts will be provided with regard to their content, lexis, language and style: a number of ekphraseis from the Aeneid, a portrait in Lucano and the naturalistic description in Ovid, Tristia 3. <br />

Textbooks and reading references will be provided during lectures. <br />

GENERAL PART <br />
<br />
Students will gain knowledge of the fundamental stages of the history of the Latin language. <br />
<br />
Students will become familiar with a textbook on the history of Latin and compare it with other textbooks or parts of them. <br />
Students will carry out independent research through a closer examination of topics covered in the course. <br />
Independent reading: Tacitus, Agricola. <br />

The exam consists of an interview covering the various parts of the course and students’ presentation of a piece of individual research agreed upon with the teacher. <br />
