Learning objectives
to introduce the first year students to the laboratory experience and to apply te general chemistry teories
Prerequisites
basic concepts of general chemistry
Course unit content
introduction : laboratory safety, equipments, chemical products.
Chemical reactions: acid-base, redox; recognition of gaseous products. precipitation of few soluble salts; identification of substances on the ground of reactivity tests.
Preparation of compounds (PbCrO4), crystallization and purification of substances (CuSO4).
Solution equilibria : solubility of ionic compounds, solubility product, effect of the common ion, temperature, complexes formation.
Application of homogeneous and heterogeneous equilibria, in the separation and recognition of cations and anions.
Principles and applications of volumetric analysis:
1)preparation and dilution of solutions .
