The course provides the basic knowledge for understanding renewable electric sources and how distributed electric generation can help to solve energy issue.

The energy mix. How energy mix affects CO2 emission.
The role of renewable energy in the energy mix.
The main renewable electric energy sources: PV, wind energy, hydroelectric energy.
Micro-cogeneration and CCHP. The electric machines for energy generation and conversion.
Solid state power converters.
Electric Power distribution systems.
Electric energy storage systems.
Grid connected systems and smart grids
