Integrated course unit module: LEGAL LANGUAGE

Learning objectives

The course aims to enable students to become familiar with English legal terminology.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of the English language.

Course unit content

 The subject of this unit is the projection of short films and the analysis of legal texts written in English. Special attention will be dedicated to international treaties, decisions of international organisations and the rulings given by various international judicial instances, such as the International Court of Justice, the European Court of Human Rights and international criminal courts.

Teaching methods

Classroom lectures. At the end of the course, students will sit a written test, consisting of reading a text written in English in each of the three course subjects and passing a multiple choice test (ten questions for each subject) aimed at assessing the level of comprehension of the presented readings.
