Integrated course unit module: MOLECULAR MECHANISMS OF DRUG ACTION

Learning objectives

to acquire a deep-rooted theoretical and practical knowledge of the fundamental principles of pharmaceutical formulation
to develop the ability to apply these principles to specific problems in the formulation science;
to acquire a comprehensive understanding of how pharmaceutical dosage forms are developed, manufactured and controlled.

Medicines and pharmaceutical dosage forms
Italian and European Pharmacopoeias
Metrology
Basic principles of biopharmaceutics pharmacokinetics
Pharmaceutical ingredients: active principles, excipients, packaging materials
Stability of pharmaceutical products
Conventional pharmaceutical dosage- forms: Solid dosage forms (Powders, Granules, Capsules, Tablets,pellets, suppositories), liquid dosage forms (solutions, suspensions,emulsions), semisolid dosage forms (ointments, gels, pastes, creams), sterile products
Administration routes and pharmaceutical dosage forms: oral, dermatological, parenteral, ocular,auricular, nasal, inhalation, rectal, vaginal.
