Learning objectives
The course is aimed at teaching knowledge and understanding of the basics of classification of patients. The student will also learn to apply the acquired knowledge and understanding in identifying and solving the patient's problems and to prepare an adequate plan of anesthesia care.

Course unit content
The first lectures cover topics of a general nature such as' surgical approach to the patient, classification of anesthetic risk, descriptions of the phases of anesthesia and drugs and equipment used.
The second part of the course is directed to the treatment of anesthetic procedures in the various animal species as regards both the local and general anesthesia.
The third part of the course deals with the complications of revival and resuscitation procedures.

Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of the achievement of the objectives of the course consists of a written and an oral exam. Through questions about the contents of the course it will be determined whether the student has achieved the goal of knowledge and understanding of the content. Through questions regarding prevention strategies and preparation of a care plan will be determined whether the student has achieved the aim of applying the acquired knowledge.
