Learning objectives

The course aims to provide a basic knowledge of Latin literature enabling students to decode the communication strategies of ancient authors and the impact on the public through linguistic tools and literary genres.

Course unit content

Literary communication in the ancient world: from author to public. An outline of various forms of literary communication in the ancient world will be offered through the study of different support materials (papyrus, parchment, volumen, codex) and different writing styles. The second part of the course will be focused on satire and comedy, strategic genres in oral and written communication.
