Learning objectives
The aim of this module is to provide students with basic knowledge of the analysis and design of high-power electronic converters.
Prerequisites
The students are expected to be familiar with the notions of mathematics, physics, electrical and electronic circuits taught in the first two years of the degree.
Course unit content
1) High-power semiconductor switches.
Pin diodes. Power BJTs. Power MOSFETs. IGBTs.
2) High power converters; AC/DC.
Single-phase and three-phase bridge rectifiers.
3) High power converters; DC/DC.
Buck, boost, buck-bust, H-bridge regulators.
4) High power converters; DC/AC.
4Single-phase and three-phase full-bridge inverters.
