Learning objectives
1. critically compare the main models of digital competence;
2. analyze the structure of MLE projects and activities;
3. understand the historical development of the discipline.
Prerequisites
Concept of media literacy education, theories in Media Pedagogy.
Course unit content
The course is aimed to highlight the history of Media Pedagogy, both from the theoretical and the practical point of view.
Arriving to the conteporary times, the course will try to make a critical evaluation of the path that Media Pedagogy has done, and to foresee the future development.
Full programme
The course begins with an overview to the current situation of the so-called "new media"; then, it presents the contemporary theories of media literacy education; analyses some experiences of the past ('50s, '60s and '70s); and it ends with a critical balance and a comparison with the nowadays situation.
