Integrated course unit module: RIVER BASIN MANAGEMENT

Learning objectives

The aim of the course is to complement the basic hydrologic concepts (acquired in the Hydrology course) and to develop the main topics concerning basin management plans, mainly with reference to flood defence. To complete also the knowledge of flood control measures in mountain streams and in plain rivers.

Hydraulics, Hydrology

Course unit content

Hydrology complements. Dam and land protection regulations. River floodways. Torrent settlement. Mild slope rivers settlement and floods control.

Oral examination on the arguments developed in the lectures and in the
laboratory activities and development of a written report on a specific project.
