Learning objectives

The Course aims at preparing the young Engineers to the State Exam to become a professional Engineer. The main topics about Ethics law and practice are presented and discussed.

Prerequisites

The course is intended for 2th year Master students and for the 3rd year students aspiring to be junior engineers, off-course students, five-year and three-year graduates intending to take the state exam.

Main laws relating to the exercise of the profession of engineer.
Provisions relating to the ethics of the profession of engineer.

PART 1 - NATIONAL LAWS AND PROFESSIONAL ETHICS

Lesson 1
Subject of the profession. Fundamental principles and instituting laws. Professional rules. Governing engineers bodies: Orders, Federations and National Council: organization and roles. Professional practice. Obligation of professional registration. Areas of expertise. State Exam.
five-year engineers and three-year engineers (junior): professional engineers and public and private employees. Individual and associate professional practice. Engineering company. Professional assignments. Contractual discipline of professional activity. Parameters for professional fees. Tax obligations, VAT. Social security and insurance obligations.

Lesson 2
Reserved professional activities: professional skills and their protection. Engineering as applied science: general ethical principles. Ethical standards: current situation and in relation to recent regulations on the professions and liberalization policies. Disciplinary procedures. Civil and criminal matters relating to the exercise of the profession: obligations and responsibilities

Lesson 3
Fundamentals of Public Works legislation with reference to the fundamental laws, the regulations and the general contract with examples.


Lesson 4
Territorial government and concurrent legislative powers.
National and local regulations on urban planning and construction. Joint liability.


PART 2 -PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Design, operation and testing of the works - Consulting

Lesson 5
Procedures and requirements connected with the design and implementation of civil construction projects: fundamentals and examples.

Lesson 6
Regulations on safety and health of workers: design and management of security in construction sites with examples.


Lesson 7
Standards and rules for the containment of the energy consumption, sustainability of building materials, classification and certification of buildings, energy regulation and reward systems. Rules on fire prevention in buildings and plant safety.

Lesson 8
Conditions for access and storage of personal data (privacy) in the treatment by computer media. Leg. March 7, 2005 n. 82-digital administration code, Digital Signature, signature and electronic identity card. Software copyright and principles related to intrusions into computer systems.
