Learning objectives

The course aims to provide students with the tools to analyze municipal urban planning and to develop simple forms of urban design.
At the end of the course students will have acquired the knowledge of the main conceptual and normative elements underpinning urban planning, as well as the capacity for analysis and critical reading of planning instruments.
Students should be able to choose the most appropriate methods to be applied for the solution of concrete problems and to apply some basic techniques of planning, such as the system of indexes and urban planning standards.
Students will have to finally acquire an independent judgment with respect to the topics covered, demonstrating adequate communication skills of the same.
