Learning objectives

The course is intended to ensure the learning of advanced knowledge about the main methods of environmental planning, with particular attention to the objectives and content of the landscape and river basin planning instruments. Will also be known the main tools of town and country planning and environmental content that characterize significant part of these tools. Will be finally known the main application aspects of landscape ecology.
The course aims to provide the learning useful skills to understand the contents of environmental plans and be able to apply the most appropriate techniques of analysis and design for the different objectives of environmental planning. The exercises of the course allow a first experience on topics of particular interest. In the academic year 2013/2014 the contents of the exercise are inherent in the design of ecological networks in areas strongly humanized.
At the end of the course the student should have developed the ability to critically evaluate the purposes and methods of environmental planning instruments, as well as to identify independently the most appropriate planning solutions for solving environmental problems in a given local context.
At the end of the course the student must have completed an adequate command of the language with regard to the topics covered, as well as a good ability of argumentation of the choices made in the design exercises.
The course help to expand the possible ways of learning for the student of the Bachelor's degree in Science and technology for the environment and resources, with particular attention to aspects related to the transfer of concepts and scientific methodologies learned in other courses to practice-oriented culture of spatial planning.

definitions of key concepts used in the teaching environment, land, landscape, space planning, programming, design;
reflections on environmental planning;
specificity of environmental planning in the Italian case;
landscape planning;
methods of analysis and evaluation of the landscape;

Teaching methods

Topics covered in the Laboratory have been developed through: introductory lessons and study;
any tutorials concerning the content of lessons;
seminars related to the discussion of specific bibliography;
seminars with visiting professors from academia or the professions;
coordinating and reviewing applications for students and group discussion of the results.

Assessment methods and criteria

Learning is verified by an interview on the content of the lessons of the course and exercise carried out by students.
In particular, the audit carried out on the contents of the lessons is aimed at ascertaining the level of knowledge and ability of expression in a language technically relevant. The reassessment of the contents of the exercise, usually carried out in working groups and delivered before the final interview, provides a public presentation of all the members of the working group and allows you to make an assessment of the skills acquired about the ability of analysis and design of a given environment.
The two moments of verification will have separate assessments and, as a rule, equal weight in the final assessment.
