Learning objectives
Students can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Course unit content
The goal of this course is to bring students to the level B1, thus defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe.
This course is intended for those who have already acquired a knowledge of English and therefore may understand oral communication, even if not complex.
The course includes activities for the consolidation and development of comprehension and oral and written English.

Assessment methods and criteria
The test consists of 70 questions with multiple choice answers.
In order to get the minimum score, students must correctly answer at least 42 questions out of 70 (60%).
The final score is obtained by summing the correct answers. There is no penalty for wrong answers and / or missing ones.
It is not allowed to use dictionaries, textbooks / grammar.
The test can be performed either by paper and pencil or by computer. The commission shall decide the method on the basis of logistic requirements.
