Learning objectives
The course aims to provide students with the concepts and principles of the analysis of the transformation of the welfare state in our time, considering the major advances that characterize the frontier of research in this discipline.
At the end of the course the student will also be able to understand the scientific texts that deal with themes of sociology dellle interactions in the contexts of welfare.
Applying knowledge and understanding:
The student will be able to support and discuss clearly, through arguments appropriate, possible proposals to address problems of varying complexity in the dynamics of communication taking place in contexts of welfare.
Making judgments
At the end of the course, the student must have acquired the ability to critically interpret the main nodes of the national and international debate on the transformation of welfdare.
communication skills
The student will be able to communicate to various stakeholders, effectively and with appropriate language, their own reflections on the interpretation and evaluation of issues and problems related to the course content.
Ability to learn
The student must have acquired the ability to approach so as independent as possible in more complex studies and in-depth with the completion of an appropriate method of study, particularly in respect to matters of sociological character.

The crisis of the welfare and the new scene of care in the social-health contexts
Full programme
Western societies, since the war forward, went through two distinct historical phases. The first phase is characterized by a relatively cohesive type of society, and aìthe second phase is characterized by increasing social fragmentation (liquid modernity, in the terminology of Z. Bauman). These two phases are characterized by two different main types of "scene of care": the first was regulated by a set of symbolic authority and knowledge, with institutional and medical dominance; the second one was (and is) regulated by functional, procedural and anonymous criteria . The problems that emerged in this second phase are new needs and new challenges, which will be the main object of the course, primarily related to the communicative and social character of the "scene of the cure."

Teaching methods
Lectures and case studies.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam with 3 open-ended questions on the topics of the texts indicated, with 60 minutes of time available. Oral examination optional; the admission requires a minimum score of 24/30 in the written test. We will evaluate the following aspects: knowledge of the texts for the exam, personbalizzata understanding of the topics covered, clarity of expression.
