Learning objectives

The knowledge of the psychic dynamics in the construction of the individual identity, in relation to the main psychic theories.
A deep analysis of the function of narrative as a mean of construction of the individual identity.
Application of psychoanalytic concepts to narrative as a mean of construction of the individual identity.

Knowledge and ability of understanding. The students will have to know the concepts presented during the lessons in the classroom about the narration as a mean of construction of the individual identity.
Ability of employ knowledges and understanding. The students will have to be able to reflect critically on the development of the individual sense of identity from the birth to adulthood; they will have to reflect on the bi-polar perspective of the identity, on the development of narrative abilities; on the peculiarities of narration; on the different structures of thought: narrative, paradigmatic, preconscious and unconscious; on the new media as technologies of the Self; on the dynamics of thought and on the aspects of identity in the Web; finally, on the new psychopatologies.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of main psychoanalytic theories (Freud, Klein, Bion, Winnicott).

Course unit content

Application of psychoanalytic concepts to narrative as a mean of construction of the individual identity, in particular in the hyper-modern society, in the Web and in the Social Networks.

Frontal lesson

Assessment methods and criteria

Seven exams in three sessions. The tests are written and consist of two open
questions. The conclusive score is made up by the sum of the scores of each
question. The passing grade (18/30) of each answer is reached if the
mistakes are not serious. The attendance is recommended.
