Integrated course unit module: PSYCHOBIOLOGY AND ETHOLOGY

Learning objectives

The aim of this part of the integrated course is to understand the the biological bases of human and sexual behavior as far as cooperation and conflict between the sexes. Through the evolutionary approach the student will be able to analyse male and female reproductive strategies, the cooperation and conflict between the sexes. This will allow a better understanding and analysis of cognitive, psychological, clinical and cultural aspects which carachterize the expression of human mating system and sexuality and the origin of male and female conflictual relationships.

Course unit content

This part of the integrated course is devoted to the study and understanding of the biological bases of human and sexual behavior as far as cooperation and conflict between the sexes. Moreover it foucouses also on the importance of the evolutionary approach for unravel psychological and clinical aspects of human sexuality Through the evolutionary approach the student will be able to analyse male and female reproductive strategies, the cooperation and conflict between the sexes. This will allow a better understanding and analysis of cognitive, psychological, clinical and cultural aspects which carachterize the expression of human mating system and sexuality and the origin of male and female conflictual relationships.

L'obbiettivo formativo del presente modulo del corso integrato è quello di far comprendere le basi biologiche del comportamento sessuale animale e umano per quanto concerne la cooperazione e il conflitto tra i sessi. Attraverso l'approccio evoluzionistico lo studente arriverà a comprendere :a) l'evoluzione delle strategie riproduttive maschili e femminili e b) la cooperazione e il conflitto tra i sessi. Ciò consentirà di poter analizzare, integrare e meglio capire gli aspetti cognitivi, psicologici, clinici e culturali che caratterizzano l'espressione della sessualità, del sistema nuziale umano e l'origine del rapporto conflittuale tra i generi.
