Course unit content
In order to obtain the title, the student, after passing the exams of all the other training activities, will support a further examination, a
final test, in which he will illustrate thesis work. The thesis is an experimental or compilation work, preferably
interdisciplinary, which can be carried inside the University laboratories or in firms outside the University (provided they are contracted). The student
performs the dissertation work under the supervision of a professor of the degree course or, anyway, of a professor of the Department,
possibly assisted by one or more experts on the topic being studied (supervisors). The thesis can be done in
association with the internship period. The final test is the presentation and discussion of the work carried out with
a commission of teachers of the Study Course (or, in any case, of the University). In the final test the capacity of the
student to get data, process them and discuss them will be verified.
Assessment methods and criteria
The Degree Examination is done, in public session, in front of a formally convened committee composed of 7 teachers
who expresses a final judgment and formulates the degree vote. To be admitted to the Degree Examination, the student prepares the
thesis in Italian (or in English, with an extensive summary in Italian) describing the work done (generally
during the traineeship). At the exam, the student has 10-15 minutes to illustrate the work results at
commission and discuss them. The evaluation of the graduation exam (from a minimum of 66 points to a maximum of 110, with any praise) takes into account the whole student study career. The teaching board of Degree has approved a regulatory document in which, in addition to the information
concerning the traineeship and the thesis, rules for the award of votes are specified.
