Learning objectives

At the end of the course the students will acquire the tools for managing and preserving botanical and historical gardens and parks and monuments in open habitats. moreover, they will be able of making diagnoses and prognoses on the actions of biodeteriogens on different cultural heritages.

Course unit content

The course provides the basic notions on: 1) principles and methods for the conservation of the cultural heritage of botanical nature; 2) principles and methods for the preservation of different cultural heritages from the biodeterioration induced by vegetable agents, mushrooms and bacteria.

Teaching methods

Lessons in the classroom during which the main topics of the course will be exposed and discussed with an active interaction with the students.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral examination aiming at verifying how the basic botanical notions can be applied to the field of the conservation of the cultural heritages, also through the exemplification with case studies.The examination will be passed when the students reply to two questions on three.
