Learning objectives

To apply on the field the concepts retained during the three past years of study, and
to set down a naturalistic report.

Prerequisites

The student must have taken and possibly passed the examinations of the
classes in botanics, zoology, mineralogy, ecology, geography and geology.

Course unit content

The course takes place within an interdisciplinary excursion held in
sites of natural and environmental interest. We will examine critical
botanical, geological, paleontological and zoological issues with the help of lecturers and specialists of the different field of reasearch.

Full programme

The students will refer to the programs of the basic courses involved.

Bibliography

Reference papers concerning the specific activities will be communicated before the excursions and during the field activities.

Teaching methods

Before the field excursions the class will receive a set of scientific papers and references to specific books that could change from a year to another. The study of these documents will help the students to focus on their naturalistic and environmental skills and knowledge. These documents will constitute the base to prepare a preliminary test. Field activities include excursions and identification of samples during the evening activities organized by the staff by a set of microscope and some evening seminars.

Assessment methods and criteria

Oral presentation of a powerpoint focussed on a specific argument treated during the field excursions.

Other information

The activity will often involve mountain walking on footpath.
