Learning objectives

Awareness of the dialectical relationship between man and nature, settlement and territory. Perceptive understanding of the dynamics linking architecture and landscape. Ability to design an urban open space.

Course unit content

Landscape as "the semantic image of the territory", as a mirror of human actions in a given environment. The reading and understanding of the anthropic landscape, as the foundation of a conscious design strategy is the main theme of the learning experience.

Teaching methods

Lectures complemented by the work in the Studio.
In-the-field International Workshop.

Assessment methods and criteria

Exposure of the project carried out during the academic year. The evaluation of the student is made considering both the final result of the design experience and his application in the different phases of the project. The evaluation is sufficient if the student demonstrates an acquired ability to address the issue, in terms of approach but also in terms of graphic representation and oral presentation.
In addition to the final verification procedures some mid-term reviewes are provided during the year.
