Corso di Speech and language therapy - Università degli Studi di Parma
Speech therapists carry out activities aimed at the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of pathologies and functional alterations that cause voice, speech, oral and written language, calculation, swallowing and communication disabilities in the various age groups (developmental, adult and geriatric). Communication, especially verbal communication, is related to the development of neuropsychological skills, perceptual, cognitive and control systems, which are studied in depth on the degree course, as they are fundamental to the understanding of patients' clinical pictures. The scope of intervention of a speech therapist is very broad and covers pathologies and disorders with different aetiologies (organic, functional and psychological). The tools used range from educational, play and health materials to digital and high-tech tools. It is therefore clear that the rehabilitation techniques that the student will learn over the three years will be wide ranging and specific to each area of intervention.
