Learning objectives

The goal of this class is to give you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge of the French language and of the cultures of the countries that speak French around the world. You will improve your oral and written skills in French and be able to listen, read, speak and write about many different topics on Human Rights, Politics and Geopolitics, etc... .

We will work on live material (reportages, conferences, interviews. etc... as well as articles; essays etc. ) in Political Sciences - topics such as:

Teaching methods

According to all the measure taken during the covid19 emergency.

The course will be on line and interactive. That is to say with group meetings on the official academic schedule and with weekly written assignments - travaux dirigés-
Inter-comprehension is the core of the method with a comparative study of the three languages Italian, French, English.
We will be working with current, live, audio-visual material (reportages, conferences, debates) in geopolitics, political sciences, sociology etc..
to develop your oral and written skills in French.

Participation is mandatory.

Assessment methods and criteria

Grading:

According to all the measures taken during the covid-19 emergency

For the students who will take the class, grading will be based on:
a) strong participation in class with weekly assignments / contrôle continu.
b)written and oral presentation - “Essay” and “Exposé” on one of the topics studied in class
- the "exposé" will have to be presented to a small group in a debate format.

It is required for the students who didn’t take the class to contact Prof. F Winkler per email or su Teams prior to the exam.

Grading will be based on:

a) A written essay on a political sciences and internationonal relations topic

The subject of essay will be chosen with Prof. Winkler prior to the examination date and it will have to be ready for the day of the examination in Word doc. (500 words minimum)

b) An oral production with a listening comprehension on a Political Science topic followed by a discussion on that specific topic.
