Course presentation - video

Why in Parma?

The second-cycle degree course in Applied Geological Sciences for Environmental Sustainability explores topical issues in depth through three available educational programmes focusing on:

  •    mitigation and management of natural hazards
  •    fluids, georesources and environmental applications,
  •    geodynamics and the palaeoenvironment for georesources.

The course also has an interdisciplinary connotation that integrates the knowledge of Earth Sciences with that of Geotechnical Engineering and Ecology, broadening cultural horizons to address the new challenges of energy transition and providing the ability to analyse and solve complex problems in a conscious and sustainable manner.

Professionalising skills will be enhanced through a substantial investment in field activities, educational excursions, laboratory activities and internships.

In this respect, many of the courses have been designed with the objective to teach the 'profession' of geologist, facilitating the rapid insertion of graduates into the worplace.

The campus provides ample space for students, research laboratories, reading rooms, library, and open-space museum, all located within the Science and Technology Campus.

The high quality of education in Parma is documented by AlmaLaurea reports on graduate satisfaction and employment status, which show higher indexes than the national average.
