Learning objectives

<br />The student must achieve the ability to evaluate clinical emergency requiring the intervention of the specialist in the critical medecine, surgery, trauma, and cardiologic areas. <br />The student will achieve competence in recognizing main diseases with urgency implications for the prognosis quod vitam, describing the process for a correct diagnosis and basic treatment. <br />The course will be mainly focused on concepts of Triage and early differential diagnosis, and will be based on international guidelines and reccommendations proper of each specific area.

<br /><br />Cardiocirculatory arrest: etiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology and treatment.<br /><br /><br />Acute myocardial infarction.<br />Acute renal insufficiency.<br />Circulation and respiratory tract ALS. <br />Cardiopulmonary resuscitation<br />Principles of mechanical ventilation .<br />Shock: etiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology and treatment<br />Trauma patients. <br />Coma and cerebral death, organ donation. <br />Poisoning and intoxication<br />Monitoring the critical patient<br />Pulmonary diseases: ARDS, pulmonary embolism, edema,<br />Cardiac arrhythmias: etiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology and treatment.<br />Metabolism: uncompensated diabetes and other diseases<br />Acid-Base balance<br /><br />Pathophysiology and therapeutic diagnostic path of:<br />Acute abdomen: peritonitis and occlusion<br />Penetrating abdominal traumas: Hemoperitoneum.<br />Rupturing aneurysms and limb ischemias<br />Thoracic traumas and emergency diseases of the thorax and mediastinum<br />

The final evaluation will be based on an oral examination with the analysis of a clinical scenario together with one of the teachers. <br />
