Learning objectives
The purpose of the course is to provide basic knowledge of the mechanisms underlying tissue response to injury (inflammation, haemostasis, repair), tumors and atherosclerosis.

Course unit content
Physiopathology of blood and hemostasis: <br />
Blood. Hematopoiesis. Anemias. Hemostasis and its alterations: trombosis, embolism, ischemia and infarction. Life style and tumor. <br />

Acute inflammation: <br />
General features of inflammation. Vascular changes. Leukocyte extravasation and phagocytosis. Chemical mediators of inflammation. Systemic effects of inflammation: fever. Outcomes of acute inflammation. <br />
<br />
Tumors: <br />
Classification. Benign and malignant tumors. Tumor etiology. Invasivity and metastasis. Pathogenesis of neoplastic diseases. <br />
Atherosclerosis: risks factors, development of artherosclerotic plaque and its evolution. <br />
