The course prepares the student to acquire an upper-intermediate level of competences to be used in the world of work. So during the exam the student will be asked to use English effectively in every day business situations

The course will lead the student to understand and analyze a complex business text taken from newspapers or business magazines. At the end of the course the student should be able to write business texts (notes, messages, emails, memos, letters, reports, proposals) in a clear and concise language. Moreover, he/she should communicate in English effectively in every day business situations and with a degree of fluency and spontaneity; he/she should also be able to explain his/her viewpoint .
During the course the student will learn how to write a CV and a letter of application, to be successful at a job interview and to manage a performance appraisal, recruitment and selection.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written and oral exam.
The written exam consists of 3 parts: an error identification task and two pieces of business writing (a note, message, memo, email to a colleague or colleagues within the company and a letter, short report or proposal to somebody outside the company).
The oral exam is about business/political articles taken from newspapers or business magazines.
