Learning objectives
Students will acquire the essential literary and language skills for taking the written and oral examination in Latin literature.
Course unit content
The course is structured in two distinct stages: 1) a translation workshop: this will include translation tests on selected passages by Latin authors, with morphosyntactic, phonetic, prosodic and metrical analysis where required by the text. The course will prepare students for the written Latin examination and an essential requirement is basic knowledge of Latin; 2) an introduction to Latin literature, dealing with the various literary genres, their peculiar traits and features and the various representatives of each genre.
